CMP hosted its Fall 2024 Job Fair on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at Chinatown YMCA, co-sponsored by the Chinatown YMCA and TD Bank. A total of 45 employers participated in the job fair, the largest number of employers in the CMP's history of organizing job fairs. As in previous years, the job fair was open to job seekers free of charge and attracted more than 900 people participated.

CMP Job Fair was attended by employers from Brooklyn, Queens, and Manhattan, including government agencies, community organizations, and businesses of all sizes. These job opportunities span from entry-level to senior positions, enabling participants to find the roles that best suit their skills and experience. Employer list flyer was available in English, Traditional Chinese, Spanish, and Korean to welcome participants from different ethnic groups. The large turnout of job seekers, representing a wide range of ages and ethnicities, mirrored the diversity of the job opportunities available.

Hong Shing Lee, Executive Director of CMP, Andrew Liberatore, Vice President & Store Manager of TD Bank, Michael A. Keller, Executive Director of Chinatown YMCA, Ling Xia Ye, Senior Field Representative of Congressman Goldman’s office, Adam Chen, Director of Asian-American Outreach Intergovernmental Affairs of State of New York Office of The Attorney, State Senator Kavanagh, and Councilmember Marte attended the opening ceremony and welcomed the job seekers and recruiters to the job fair, expressing hope that it would not only energize the community’s revitalization but also create more opportunities for its residents.

CMP holds two job fairs annually, in March and September. The first job fair took pace at Flushing YMCA in March, and this is the second. Please stay tuned for the next job fair, scheduled for March in 2025.

CMP's First HVAC Training Successfully Concluded on August 16th

CMP's first HVAC training with S&W Wilson, Inc. has come to a successful conclusion. At a graduation ceremony on Friday, August 16, CMP presented graduates with certificates of completion in recognition of their efforts and achievements.

Since the start of the course on May 22, the 3-month training not only allowed the students to practice their skills in a real HVAC work environment but also enhanced their market competitiveness through the work readiness courses provided by the CMP, such as the analysis of industry dynamics and training on interview skills, laying a foundation for their successful entry into the job market.

At the graduation ceremony, Stephanie Lau, Deputy Executive Director of CMP, said, “Today's graduation ceremony marks the end of an important learning journey for the students and the beginning of their new career.” Mr. Wilson Fung, the instructor and owner of S&W Wilson, Inc., also said that many of the students have made remarkable progress and will be recommended for relevant jobs.

HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) covers a wide range of services for indoor environmental comfort and air quality. Since the career information session last December, CMP has recognized the high interest of the community in the knowledge and skills of the industry. In response, CMP covered the full cost of all materials and equipment and set the registration fee at just $100—over 90% below the market rate—to reduce barriers and enable more aspiring individuals to enter the field.

This training marks the CMP's first vocational training program since the loss of the original classroom space due to the 2020 fire. CMP continues to innovate and improve the quality of its services to help community members achieve economic independence and career dreams.
